Liverpool Philharmonic

The brief for this project was to direct classical music education at young people. In order to gain an appreciation of it, young people need to be able to identify with it. Through the functionality of the iPhone and other mobile devices, future students can use musical apps to learn the beat, tempo and notes of their current music library on their mobile device. This can then be used as a bridge to learn classical music and encourage one of the Liverpool Philharmonic’s goals- to train young musical talent.

In this concept, the user can learn how to play the piano on iPiano by following lit-up keys on the screen.  The PhilViolin concept is especially exciting as no violin-learning application (at the time of creation) is currently available for the iPhone/iPod Touch. The final game/application, iConduct, enables the user to learn how to conduct music, again a field previously untouched in any gaming platform and potentially, a highly educational avenue to explore. The conductor is the most revered member of an orchestra and with their leadership position, may have greater aspirational appeal to young audiences.

Further information about the Phil or further musical learning could be gained from any of the Phil’s application’s, and prizes may be offered to those who submit their best score on a monthly/seasonal basis.
