My dream is to one day have a studio with inspirational quotes pasted on every wall to continually motivate my thought-stream. This site is a God-send for such a dream! Great for any quick tit-bit of wisdom from Designers, philosophers and great-thinkers.

99%

99% is a relatively new website from the Behance team, offering a new and invaluable service along with it’s product range. It is an excellent resource for creative professionals featuring articles, tips and videos from various contributors. The information contained within it’s library is current and up-to-date, but more important than their helpful articles, are their annual conferences, their first one having been held last April. Although the speakers are, admittedly, not the huge-name Designers that we’re used to seeing and expecting to see at such conferences, the content is just as valid for all within the industry. One of my favourite speakers from the conference is this bite-size clip from behance’s founder, Scott Belsky with his equation: Creativity x Organization = Impact.

99% Concept: As creatives, we don’t need more ideas. What we need is better follow-through. To this end, the 99% delivers articles, tips, interviews, video, and events – all designed to help you push ideas forward.

Smashing Magazine has provided a wonderful one-stop resource for designers searching for professional typefaces. In fact we’re spoiled for choice with 80 of the best family fonts to pick from. Here is my current favourite by Joshua Darden referred to as ‘Untitled‘ which is available for sale under the title ‘Jubilat‘ from the Darden Studio.

The Design Cubicle is a useful resource made by the very talented Brian Hoff. His work with branding and identity is particularly impressive and beautifully simple. A particular favourite article of mine which he has kindly shared with the community is 10 common typography mistakes. Very handy indeed.

Got a job at Acadamee by doing admin work and getting friendly with the creative team.
When you design your CV, it has to be an extension of your portfolio. It cannot be a Word document.
If you have CD/DVD portfolio, an animated Flash menu is nice as long as it is not intrusive to their desktop (as in it doesn’t maximise the screen automatically)
